Adaptive Training
The Adaptive Computing Technology (ACT) Center offers complete training on supported adaptive hardware and software products. Training may be recommended to you after you have attended the center for an adaptive assessment, depending on your comfort level and knowledge on the product.
Each training session will follow a customized lesson plan. At the end of the session, the trainer will review your accomplishments throughout the lesson and schedule your next visit.
Training is held, by appointment only, at the ACT Center, located in Memorial Union at the University of Missouri-Columbia.
Each training session is customized:
- To your need.
- To the rate at which you learn.
- To the speed you are most comfortable with.
If you are an MU student, faculty or staff member, please refer to the IT Training site for further details.
"Homework"
As a part of your training, if you have access to the adaptive program at home, the trainer may give you assignments for that week. By working with the product in your own environment, you will increase your comfort level and progress at a faster rate then usual. If you encounter any issues in your home environment, please let the trainer know and we can try to resolve them immediately.
Post-Assessment Report
As a wrap-up, a report is written for every training lesson which is given. Your counselor will receive a copy of the full report.
Continued Training
If you need any additional training, your counselor will contact the ACT Center to schedule your appointments. An additional authorization will be needed for the training.
Fees
Training fees for MU students, faculty and staff are at no charge.
Training fees for clients outside of MU are $45 per hour and may vary, depending on the number of hours authorized by your counselor.
The ACT Center will contact you and/or your counselor for an additional authorization form if you need more training.
